What are the United nations sustainable development goals (UN SDGs)?
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries.
At the Yale International Relations Association, the UN SDGs are at the core of Model United Nations (MUNs) we organize around the world. At YIRLC Japan, we hope to empower young leaders to learn about policymaking and leadership for the UN SDGs.
At YIRLC Japan 2025, students would be involved with hands-on policymaking for globally relevant issues. Students will work in small groups under the guidance of Yale leaders to tackle SDG-related challenges, culminating in a pitch of their proposed solutions.
