YALE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS LEADERSHIP CAMP

HONG KONG

The Yale International Relations Leadership Camp Hong Kong will be held from Oct 17 - 19, 2025.

Dear future leaders,

At YIRLC Hong Kong, you and other participants from the region will dive into your roles as future leaders and learn about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and creating impact in your community. You will also have the chance to pitch a policy solution for a global challenge.

Whether you are new to policy or an experienced MUNer, YIRLC Hong Kong would be a enriching experience for students who hope to make a global impact on the world. Please note that we can only take participants who are 13 - 18 years old.

The registration fee of $249 USD includes 4 meals during YIRLC.

Day 1: InnoCentre, 72 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon

Day 2 & 3: Malvern College Hong Kong, 3 Fo Chun Rd, Providence Bay, Hong Kong

Please note that we will provide bus transport from a central point to Malvern College on Day 2 and 3 of the event.

These awards would be awarded by the Yale International Relations Association. When designating awards, our team holistically evaluates all participants and looks out for the most impactful pitches.

Yale secretariat

Netra Easwaran

Netra Easwaran is a junior at Yale University majoring in Political Science and South Asian Studies. She is also the Vice President of the Yale International Relations Association and competes on Yale’s Model United Nations Team and Yale’s Debate Association.

Netra has served as Director-General of Committees for Yale MUN Dubai II and Yale MUN South Asia, Crisis Director for Yale MUN Europe, and Assistant Secretary-General of Committees for Yale MUN 50. She has also been involved in projects for the Yale Policy Initiative and Undergraduate Legal Aid Association. Netra is a Board Member of the South Asian Youth Initiative, a Contributing Reporter for the Yale Daily News, and Events Chair for the Hindu Students Organization.

At YIRLC Hong Kong, Netra will be leading SDG 3 – Good Health & Well-being & SDG 6 – Clean Water & Sanitation!

Ava Chae

Ava Chae (she/her) is a senior in Ezra Stiles College and an Economics major. Ava has served on the secretariats for Yale MUN South Asia, Yale MUN XLIX, Yale MUN 50, and Yale MUN Korea in various operations positions. When she is not staffing a Yale MUN conference, she is volunteering for the Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project or dancing in Yale Movement. In her spare time, she enjoys solving escape rooms, holding karaoke nights with friends, and watching dystopian movies. Ava is beyond excited to help work with young leaders in Hong Kong!

At YIRLC Hong Kong, Ava will be leading SDG 4 – Quality Education & SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities!

    6.30 - 7.30 pm: Workshop: Policymaking 101 and the UN

    7.30 - 9 pm: Dinner and student discussion

Day 2: Malvern College

  • 9 - 10 am: Sharing by Yale team: their leadership journey

    10 - 12 pm: Workshop on Policy Research and Writing

    12 - 1 pm: Lunch

    1 - 4 pm: Public Speaking and Pitching Workshop

    4 - 6 pm: SDG Challenge - working time

    6 - 7 pm: Dinner

    7 - 9 pm: Group Discussion

Day 3: Malvern College

  • 9 - 11 am: Crimson Admissions Workshop

    11 - 12 pm: Workshop: Creating Impact in your Community

Shalina Effendi

Shalina Effendi is a Junior at Yale University from Houston, Texas majoring in Global Affairs. On campus, she serves as the President of the Yale International Relations Association and competes on the Model UN team at Yale. Previously, she served as the Director-General of Yale Model UN Dubai 2024 and Under-Secretary-General of Yale Model UN Singapore 2024. Shalina is passionate about empowering young people, and has previously been part of organizations like Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America, Diversify our Narrative, and Girl Up.

At YIRLC Hong Kong, Shalina will be leading SDG 13 – Climate Action & SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production!

Kyle Guo

Kyle Guo (he/him) is a senior in Pierson College from North Haven, CT, majoring in Economics and Political Science. He currently serves as the Secretary-General of Yale MUN South Asia, and previously worked on Yale MUN XLIX, Yale MUN 50 (YIRA's flagship conference on Yale's campus), and Yale MUN Korea. Kyle also served as the Treasurer from 2024-2025 for the Yale International Relations Association, the parent organization of YMUN's global conferences. In his free time, Kyle enjoys exploring the outdoors, traveling, binging a good show, or discovering new artists.

At YIRLC Hong Kong, Kyle will be leading SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities & Communities & SDG 8 – Decent Work & Economic Growth!
